Beth-El Center Receives Funding from Archbishop’s Annual Appeal

Beth-El Center homeless shelter and community kitchen in Milford, a provider of emergency housing and food programs, recently received a $4,690 donation from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.

This funding will be used to support the operation of the Beth-El Center’s emergency homeless shelter, food programs and support services for men, women, veterans and families in the Milford, shoreline and Valley areas who are experiencing homelessness.

"Beth-El Center is grateful to receive this gift from the Archdiocese of Hartford,” says Jennifer Paradis, Executive Director of Beth-El Center. “As we’re seeing an increase in family homelessness, this donation supports shelter and services to the parents with children that we’re serving. This gift will also help to support our community kitchen which has served more meals to date than it did in all of 2022. We’re grateful for their support, which allows us to continue to respond to the increased demand for the basic needs of food and stable housing.”

Year to date, the Center has served 45,000 meals in our community kitchen which is more than the total number served in 2022. This year, Beth-El has sheltered 68 individuals, families, and veterans and moved 27 individuals and 12 families to permanent housing. Beth-El's Outreach and Engagement program has provide support services to 43 unsheltered homeless individuals and families and 25% of them were matched with housing. Beth-El's Diversion services prevented 253 households from homelessness.
