CONNECTICUT — What a bizarre storm we just witnessed. For most of Sunday and Monday the much discussed long duration storm appeared to be a dud for most folks in Connecticut. And then all of a sudden Monday night happened, and now some areas of the state are waking up to record snowfall for December.

And some folks are waking up wondering what snow are folks talking about. Fox 61 Meteorologist Dan Amarante shared on social media that parts of the state saw as little as 2 inches of snow and some witnessed 16 inches of snow, what an amazing spread.

Bradley Airport received a record-breaking 13.4 inches of snow. Heavy bands of snow, combined with strong wind gusts produced amazing snowfall rates in north central parts of the state late Monday, and that continued with heavy snow in eastern sections of the state early Tuesday.

So what is next for us?

The National Weather Service says skies will clear up and the sun will come out this afternoon.
"Under breezy northwest flow, highs this afternoon will range from the mid 30s across the interior to around 40 at the coast, about 5-10 degrees below normal for the beginning of December.

"Clouds will return overnight tonight into the day on Wednesday. A few rain or snow showers are possible during the day on Wednesday..., otherwise the area is expected to remain dry. Temperatures will remain below normal, with overnight lows ranging from the mid 20s to around 30 and daytime highs only rising into the upper 30s to mid 40s."

WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "Plan extra time today! Some of you will have to clean your vehicle off. Some of you will have to dig out the end of the driveway! The storm is ending for Connecticut and the sun will come out today! Dress for a feel like temperature in the teens and 20s with actual temperatures in the 30s. Maybe a flurry tomorrow and a couple of spots followed by dry weather on Thursday. Let’s watch Friday for some snow showers or a mix. Dry and cold for the coming weekend!"
