Boat Crash, Accidents, Distressed Swimmers Keep Milford Fire Busy
The Charles Island Music Festival attracted more than 600 boats to Milford and there were a lot of calls for emergencies.

MILFORD, CT — The Charles Island Music Festival which was held Saturday attracted 600 plus boats, which meant there was a lot of work for the Milford Fire Department.
"One thinks that the Fire Department only responds to fires, but the Milford Fire Department is an all-hazards response agency," the fire department said in a social media post. "On Saturday, crews staffed three marine units to provide an extra layer of safety for the community of Milford. The Milford Police Department, the Stratford Fire Department, and the Bridgeport Fire Department assisted with the event."
"In the end, the Marine Rescue units responded to 1 boat that sank, 1 boat crash with 8 injuries, one grill fire on a boat, numerous medical emergencies, including a serious trauma accident, and assisted numerous swimmers and others in the water when they became distressed. This was accomplished while also providing fire and medical response for the citizens of Milford on land.
