Book Groups at Milford Library
Love to read? We have a book discussion group for you!
The Milford Public Library offers a variety of book groups for diverse reading interests. Its scope has expanded to include a travel related book club. The Library now hosts four distinctive groups catering to the reading pleasure of those who enjoy a lively discussion and exchange of ideas.
“Our community is diverse, with a wide variety of interests. We offer several book discussion groups for our patrons’ wide-ranging reading selections,” said Nancy Abbey, Assistant Library Director.
The Classic Book Club features acclaimed and captivating literature from authors around the world. Past selections have included the work of Dante, Edith Wharton, Charles Dickens, Henry James and Mary Shelley. Each month participants engage in a spirited exchange of ideas.

The Romance Book Club discusses titles which have one common thread – all end happily ever after. The selections include mysteries, comedies, suspense, historical, medieval and contemporaries from best selling and new authors. Topics may be serious or lighthearted and the discussion is always entertaining.
The Library’s newest addition is a Travel Book Club, which will meet quarterly rather than monthly. The focus of each selection will be on some aspect of travel including a look at culture and cuisine. The next meeting is scheduled for September 14th with a discussion of “The Invisible Bridge” by Julie Orringer. Books will be available at the Library in early August.
The groups provide an interesting way to meet new people, to share ideas and to enjoy experiencing new authors. Milford residents and non-residents are welcome. Copies of all titles are available at the Library’s Reference Desk.
