Breast Health Awareness Fall Fundraiser at Tribus Beer Co.

MILFORD, CT - The Get In Touch Foundation is excited for its 5th Annual Fall Fundraiser at Tribus Beer Co. The event is set to take place on September 27th from 6:00pm-10:00pm featuring live music from Black Rock Fire.

The Get In Touch Foundation is a local nonprofit with a global reach that educates on the importance of and how to do a breast self-exam. The organization started in 2008 after founder, Mary Ann Wasil's breast cancer diagnosis. Wasil performed breast self-exams her whole life, when she noticed a lump, she brought it to the attention of her doctor right away. Her doctor told her it was “probably nothing” and to “come back in a year,” but she knew her body better than anyone else, so sought a second opinion and was told she had breast cancer in both breasts.

The diagnosis prompted her to make breast health education free and accessible to all. With the help of a Medical Advisory Board, Mary Ann launched the Daisy Wheel, an interactive and easy-to-use paper visual aid that outlines breast self-exam steps. Because of generous donors, partnerships and fundraisers, The Get In Touch Foundation's resources are free to order and ship to schools across the country and globe. Mary Ann sadly passed in 2016, four years after her metastatic breast cancer recurrence, however her legacy and mission still live on today.

The Get In Touch Foundation's Annual Fall Fundraiser is a night to highlight breast health awareness and arm and equip everyone with the knowledge to be their best breast health advocate. Wild Heart Boutique will be setup to offer shopping with partial proceeds benefitting The Get In Touch Foundation and Steak-In-It will be the food truck onsite. Tribus will also be donating partial proceeds of sales from the night to The Get In Touch Foundation. There will be a $10 cover charge, Venmo/PayPal, cash, credit will be accepted. The cover charge will be waived for any health educators and/or school nurses attending as a thank you for helping us put our mission into action.
