After a successful weekend run at the Milford Historical Society in Milford, the MAC’s (Milford Arts Council) Eastbound Theatre and Westport Community Theatre continue to present East/West PlayFest 2026 when it moves to Westport this week. The show, a collection of five short, original plays, will be performed at 7:30 pm Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18 at Westport Community Theatre, 110 Myrtle Avenue in Westport.
The short dramas and comedies are: “The Cardboard Prophets” by Hannah Crothers of Saint John, New Brunswick-Canada, directed by Ann Baker of Milford; “Spark of Life” by Ellen Abrams of New York, NY, directed by Mark Ferguson of Newtown; “Taken to School” by John Busser of Avon, OH, directed by Elayne Gordon of Norwalk; “The Collegians” by Tim Lehnert of Cranston, RI, directed by Tom Rushen of Stratford and “Memories, Lightly Used” by Greg A. Smith of Columbus, Ohio, directed by Erin Sullivan of Norwalk.
The cast includes: Jill Faulkner, Jamison Hoover and Adelaide Sutfin,all of Milford;&nbsp; Mariah Young of Bridgeport; Kierstin Jones of Hamden; Lenny Carlucci of Norwalk; Emily Carveth of Orange; Denise Hubbard of Redding; Kristin Aug of Sandy Hook; Mark Lambeck of Stratford; Martha Hegley of Westport; and Phil Hochman of Woodbridge. 
While there is no charge for tickets, donations are encouraged and much appreciated.

The Shoreline Jazz Quartet (Cyril D'Souza-Alto and Soprano Saxophones, Steve Roane-Bass, Mike Bimonte-Drums, Rich Meyers-Vibraphone) presents a concert celebrating the music of Thelonious Monk and Bill Evans.&nbsp;Thelonious Monk's angular and dissonant approach to playing and composing was remarkable and unique. His compositions such as 'Straight No Chaser' and 'Round Midnight' are cornerstones of Jazz pedagogy. Bill Evans was a lyrical pianist whose legacy included swinging and original renditions of standards as well as his own compositions such as 'Waltz for Debby'.

MILFORD, CT — What began as a personal spiritual journey for writer and composer Barbara Oleynick has grown into an international Marian outreach reaching audiences across multiple languages through audiobooks, digital media, prayer resources, and now a new musical collaboration titled Songs of Mary – Blessed Is Her Name. Oleynick, creator of Blessed Is Her Name, has spent the past several years adapting the life of the Blessed Mother into a modern multimedia experience designed to bring peace, healing, and renewed faith to listeners around the world. The audiobook series is currently available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Tagalog, Croatian, Hindi, French, and Ukrainian, with narrators and collaborators from around the world helping bring the message to their local communities. “What has moved me most are the personal stories people are sharing,” Oleynick said. “Many have written saying they returned to prayer, returned to the Church, or found peace during periods of grief, trauma, loneliness, or uncertainty through Mary’s story.” The outreach has expanded rapidly online through YouTube, parish sharing networks, and social media platforms, where short devotional reflections and healing-centered messages have resonated with Catholics seeking hope and spiritual renewal. Among the newest initiatives is Walk With Mary to Jesus, a 44-day guided devotional journey inviting participants to reflect daily on the life of Mary through short readings, prayer, and personal reflection.
