
Clarence "Wendell" Corey Obituary
Clarence M. Corey of Milford, known by his family and friends as Wendell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Donna Williams Corey. Wendell was born on Block Island on March 30, 1941 to the late Annette Dodge Corey.
Wendell became a captain while co-owning the Liberty Bell cruise ship out of New Haven and went on to serve as a captain for more than 30 years. Throughout his distinguished career, he worked with Schooner Inc. of West Haven and the Aquaculture School in Bridgeport. After retiring, he spent much of his time at his home on Block Island, Rhode Island, where he remained deeply engaged in the community. He was actively involved with the Block Island Maritime Institute, the Block Island Shellfish Commission, and Harbor Church.
Wendell will be sadly missed by his wife Donna Corey; his children: Susan Bernor and her husband, Raymond, and Craig Corey and his wife Samantha; his brother, Harry Corey and his wife Joanne; grandchildren: Jeffrey Bernor and his wife Amanda, and Corey Bernor; and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at the GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME from 4:00pm – 7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm. Interment will be private.
