Connecticut Police Department Finds Shelter, Food For Homeless Family

West Haven Police officers paid for a couple and their 1-year-old child to have food and shelter last night.

This is the type of heartwarming story you need to read sometimes just to balance the bad news in the world with some inspiring stories, and that is what we have here with the West Haven Police Department.

The Police Department received a phone call 10 p.m. Thursday that there was a family living in a tent in a wooded area in West Haven.

Officers tried to find them a shelter for the night, but the facilities were all full. Undeterred officers on duty passed the hat and raised enough money to put the family, which includes a couple and a 1-year-old child, in a motel and they also purchased a $100 Stop & Shop card for the family, the New Haven Register’s Kristin Stoller reports.
