Connecticut School Mask Mandate: Take Patch Survey

Gov. Ned Lamont wants to move school mask mandate decisions to the local level.

CONNECTICUT — Gov. Ned Lamont announced that he won't seek to extend the statewide school mask mandate beyond Feb. 28.

Lamont's emergency powers expire Feb. 15, and he is urging the state legislature to extend the mandate until Feb. 28. After that, the mask mandate should be a local matter, he said.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy also announced plans to drop his state's school mask mandate, effective March 7. The governors of Delaware and Oregon announced that their mandates will run through the end of March.
