CT Coronavirus Updates: Town-By-Town Numbers Reveal Big Increase
Gov. Ned Lamont used the word "disturbingly" when sharing the new number of coronavirus cases across Connecticut.
CONNECTICUT — Everyday for the past month Gov. Ned Lamont has announced the new numbers in regard to the coronavirus but Friday was different. Lamont used the word "disturbingly" when introducing the new confirmed numbers for Connecticut.
And that is because there was a major increase in positive tests reported in a 24 hour period between Thursday and Friday. The number of confirmed cases rose by 1,090 to 4,914 and the number of deaths increased by 19 to 131 and hospitalizations also spike to 909 in the state.
Lamont said the number of positive tests grew by nearly 30 percent over what the state had been reporting recently.

Nursing home cases
Among 216 nursing homes in CT, 48 (22%) have had at least one confirmed case of COVID-19. A total of 221 nursing home residents with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 have been identified of whom 80 (36%) were hospitalized and 23 (10%) have died.
