Snow Accumulation Estimates Released For Wednesday: Here's What You Need To Know

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for a portion of Connecticut. Here are the updated snow estimates.

CONNECTICUT — It looks like we'll all be seeing some snow on the ground by Wednesday evening, according to the latest forecast updates from the National Weather Service.

Areas along the immediate coast will see an inch or two of snow, while areas inland and in northern Connecticut could see up to three inches of snow accumulation by Wednesday evening, according to the weather service.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Litchfield County, with 2-5 inches of snow forecast. The advisory begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Southern CT forecast updates via the National Weather Service:

"Precipitation likely starts off as all snow and remains all snow until late Wednesday morning. At this time, a rain/snow mix will be possible along southern LI and NYC. This rain/snow mix line only goes as far north as the southern CT coast in the afternoon, locations north of here likely stay as all snow," the weather service said.

The weather service said to expect around two inches of snow on the coast and three inches in inland sections of southern Connecticut.


Here are forecast details for northern Connecticut via the National Weather Service:

"...snow is likely to become more of a steady light snow by the afternoon...Precipitation ends early Wednesday evening before trending dry for the second half of Wednedsay night."

The weather service said northern sections of the state should see 2-3 inches of snow accumulate.

"It should end up being one of those events where the snow forecast is more likely to be met on grassy, elevated surfaces with either wet pavement entirely or slushy coatings o concrete/asphalt, if precip rates are higher than currently envisioned," the weather service said.

Here are the forecast details for inland sections of southern Connecticut:

Wednesday: Snow. High near 38. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Calm wind.


Here are the forecast details for northern Connecticut:

Wednesday: Snow likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Wednesday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
