CT Weather: Chances For Accumulating Snow Decrease Wednesday

CONNECTICUT — The chances for any accumulating snow on Wednesday keep decreasing, according to new updates from the National Weather Service.

Towns in Hartford, Tolland, Windham and Litchfield counties may see up to an inch of snow before the system moves through Wednesday night. In southern Connecticut towns, it doesn't look like any real accumulation is now expected and on the coast rain showers will quickly mix with snow showers.

It appears Connecticut is still waiting for its first widespread accumulating snow of the season.

Southern Connecticut forecast update

The weather service said, "What had looked like the potential for a light accumulating snow on Wednesday, has lessened....The forecast area will be on the northern fringe of the system...Precipitation will be light...In fact, by mid to late morning, any light snow will likely change over to rain or a rain/snow mix at the coast. Keep in mind, should this trend continue, many areas may not see precipitation at all. The best chance at this time is across far eastern LI and SE CT. Little to no snow accumulation is expected."

Northern Connecticut forecast update

"Remaining snow showers associated with a low-pressure system passing southeast of New England will come to an end Wednesday night into Thursday. Uncertainty remains in what kind of snowfall totals we`ll see when all is said and done, but 1-2 inches by Thursday morning has been the common theme among recent model guidance."

Changing weather details for the remainder of the week for Connecticut

Once the snow and rain showers end Wednesday, freezing cold takes over on Thursday with sunshine and high temperatures only in the mid to upper 30s. On Friday, temperatures moderate into the mid 40s and there is a chance for rain and snow showers after 8 p.m. Friday.

And then just like that we're back into the 60s on Saturday and there is a 50 percent chance of rain showers. More rain showers on Sunday and highs in the upper 50s.
