CT Weather: Ice Chance Wednesday, Light Snow, Sleet Christmas

The weather service lists two chances for wintry weather across most of Connecticut, including snow late Christmas Eve and morning.

CONNECTICUT — The holiday week weather forecast is turning slightly more interesting.

Just before daybreak Wednesday, northern sections of the state and interior sections of southern Connecticut may see a period of light icing, which could impact the morning commute. Again, this isn't a blockbuster weather event, but it could cause some travel issues for parts of the state.

On the immediate coast, it's a strictly plain rain event. The National Weather Service said the precipitation will be light for southern Connecticut, but there could be a wintry mix or light snow falling in inland sections.

In northern Connecticut, the weather service said "pockets of freezing rain" are possible, but the temperatures will be right on the borderline.

And then there may be some snowflakes falling late Christmas Eve and early Christmas morning. Once again, the precipitation is expected to be very light.

A quick-moving clipper system may drop some precipitation after midnight and the weather service said, "Can`t rule out a mix of rain and snow even for some coastal areas at the onset of precipitation, but this looks to be mainly a rain event there. For inland areas, snow or a rain/snow mix Friday night before transitioning to all rain by late morning."

Additionally, some freezing rain is possible in inland sections, but temperatures will rise into the mid 40s on Christmas Day for everyone.
