CT Weather: Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For 6 Counties

The National Weather Service just issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of Connecticut. Here's an updated timeline.

CONNECTICUT — A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for most of Connecticut up until 11 p.m. Saturday. A severe thunderstorm warning expired at 5:30 p.m. for Hartford and Tolland County. A warning is in effect for Litchfield County until 9:45 p.m.

Strong storms moved through parts of the state Saturday afternoon, especially in northern Connecticut, and flooding has been a major concern. Another round of storms is entering the western part of the state around 9 p.m.

Saturday night, Sunday forecast details:

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1am and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Some storms could be severe, with large hail, damaging winds, gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Patchy fog after 2am. Low around 73. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind 6 to 9 mph.

Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. West wind 5 to 7 mph.
