CT Weather: Updated Snow Accumulation Estimates For Friday Storm

The National Weather Service released updated snow accumulation estimates for each area of the state. Here's how much we can expect.

CONNECTICUT — It looks like Connecticut will see its first widespread snowstorm of winter on Friday.

Confidence is increasing that the entire state will see snow on the ground Friday morning. A general 2-4 inches of snow is currently forecast, and it appears that the precipitation will be all snow. Some areas in the eastern part of the state could see up to six inches total, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will be quick-moving and should begin after midnight Thursday and end late Friday morning.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for southern Connecticut by the weather service.

"Low pressure is expected to produce a round of snow late Thursday night into Friday. Although there is still some certainty regarding the exact track, timing, and intensity of the system, a general 2 to 4 inch snowfall is expected across the area. The snowfall is expected to impact the Friday morning commute."

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 1am. Low around 27. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 8 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Northwest wind 9 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Interior sections:

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 10pm. Low around 26. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow likely, mainly before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 3am. Low around 26. Calm wind becoming northeast around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow, mainly before 10am. High near 31. Northwest wind 7 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.


Windham County:

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 3am. Low around 26. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow, mainly before 10am. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 33. Northwest wind 6 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.


Litchfield County:
