CT Women's Hall of Fame to Visit Milford Public Library

"We Fight for Roses, Too" Exhibit on Display from March 9-13, 2015

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Milford Public Library will host ”We Fight for Roses, Too,” an exhibit from the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame (CWHF), from Monday, March 9-Friday, March 13, 2015.

The exhibit is dedicated to the stories, struggles and achievements of the CHWF’s Inductees, women who have shaped the culture and society of Connecticut and the nation. Rather than focus solely on the photographs of each of the inductees, this exhibit showcases images that highlight the struggle of each woman’s actions as a means of further reminding audiences that the quest for women’s equality has not been an easy battle.

Perfect for audiences of varying age groups, the exhibit consists of 22, seven-foot tall free-standing panels and dominates a room. Its individual panels are bright, bold and engaging. Our Inductees’ stories are arranged by theme: Civil Liberties, Creative Expression, Economic Opportunity, Equal Access to Education, Health Reform and Suffrage & Civic Engagement.

The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame (CWHF) is an educational outreach organization whose mission is to honor publicly the achievement of Connecticut women, preserve their stories, educate the public and inspire the continued achievements of women and girls. Founded in 1994 in Hartford, Connecticut, the CWHF fills the void that traditional curricula still fail to address and today stands as the state’s premier source for women’s history with 109 Inductees. Through a wide spectrum of innovative statewide programs offered free of charge to Connecticut citizens, the CWHF celebrates and documents its Inductees’ lives and accomplishments and now reaches more than 30,000 women and girls annually. Historically, the CWHF website has been a learning tool attracting international, national and local researchers, teachers and students. The CWHF’s website, www.cwhf.org, is a “Virtual Hall” where visitors can explore its educational resources. To join the CWHF via social media, find and like ctwomen on Facebook and follow @ctwomen on Twitter.
