
Cynthia I. (Opdenbrouw) Mitchell, 83, of Milford passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital on March 6, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents Bruce & Martha Opdenbrouw, the middle child of five and lived in various sections of Bridgeport, CT and graduated from Warren Harding High School.
Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Warren O. Mitchell, daughter Janice Mitchell of Milford, CT, son Keith Mitchell and grandson Justin Griffin-Mitchell both of IN.
Family was a central part of her life and always involved in the P.T.A, was a Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts leader as well as a Sunday school teacher and member of the church choir.
She returned to work after graduating from Butler Business School working with several area companies including; G.E., Black & Decker and retiring from Karpilow Safe & Lock to care for her dying mother.
A very talented lady, she loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, and various arts and crafts that included lovingly making 2 large bed quilts for her children. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends. Reading mystery novels, trips to Foxwoods Casino, and listening to country music were some of her favorite things.
Family and friends wish her a peaceful trip to her next home in heaven.
Friends and family may call on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 201 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 5:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
