Diane D. Smith Obituary

Diane Deborah (Kane) Smith, age 69, of Milford, CT, beloved wife of John Smith, passed away after a brief illness into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Bridgeport Hospital. Diane was born in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT, on August 18, 1956, to the late Irene and James Kane.

Diane was a lifelong Milford resident and a 1974 graduate of Jonathan Law High School. Diane was a well-liked student, and many of her classmates became lifelong friends. Diane dedicated over 35 years of her career to Schick-Wilkinson Sword in Milford where she advanced to a middle-management position as a Reliability Inspector, where she was highly regarded by colleagues and leadership alike.

Diane loved watching Nascar (#48) and reality police shows, she was also a 49ers fan. She loved getting her nails done and anything pink! Diane would enjoy sitting down at the beach listening to music and hanging out at home reading or doing crafts on her own or with her grandchildren. She also spent her years traveling with her husband and most recently with her sons and grandchildren. Her life revolved around her family and her efforts to be the best wife, mother, grandmother, and sister she could be.

Those who knew Diane will remember her warmth and loyal heart, her lively personality and quick wit, and the genuine joy she brought into the lives of others. She had a special way of making people feel valued, and besides her family, her friendships were among the most important treasures of her life. Diane will live on through the many

memories of the laughter and love she shared with those fortunate enough to call her a friend.

Diane will be sadly missed by her husband of 47 years, John Smith of Milford; her children: Brandon Smith and his wife Elizabeth of Canton, Jarrett Smith and his wife Evette of Waterbury, and Justin Smith and his wife Susann of Milford; her twin brother Brian Kane and his wife Martha of New Hampshire; brother-in-law Robert Smith and his wife Eileen; sister-in-law Kathleen O’Connor Smith; grandchildren: Laura, Ryan, Lena, MacKenzie and Madison, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her dearest friends: Shirley, Margaret, and Daisy.

Visitation will be from 9:00am –11:00am Wednesday March 11, 2026 at THE GREGORY F. DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, Milford with a prayer service to follow. We will then proceed to Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford for burial.
