Donations Needed to Ensure Milford Fireworks Celebration Remains an Annual Event
Enough money has been raised for this year's event, but no money is left over to allow organizers to begin planning next year's celebration.

MILFORD, CT - The good news is that enough money has been raised to ensure the city’s Kick Off to Summer event, which includes fireworks will be held on Friday, July 1.
But the bad news as of right now is the fact that no money is left over to commit to what officials hope will be a third annual fireworks bash in 2017, the Milford Mirror reports.
It costs $15,000 to put on the event, which last year attracted 25,000 residents, and about $7,000 is needed to move ahead with fundraising for next year’s event. Currently, that $7,000 figure it what is missing, the Milford Mirror reports. No taxpayer money is used.

Without an influx of donations it’s possible this could be the last year for fireworks.

This year, organizers are planning the food, music and fireworks extravaganza on Friday, July 1, which runs from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Fireworks blast off around 9:15 p.m.
Event Organizer Daniel Worroll has said confirmed bands include Michael Rea, who performs some of the legendary classics including Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra, and the popular Rum Runners.
Worroll said there will be a lot more room for residents to enjoy the festivities at Milford Harbor, and more portable toilets and way more food trucks than last year. They’re hoping to double up on last year’s six food trucks.
If a business would like to donate they can email Worroll at dworroll@optonline.net.
