
Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Tarkhan, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 26, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. He was born on April 16, 1951, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia to the late Ibrahim Ali Tarkhan and Fathia Ali Mousa. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
Ismail was a respected internist and pathologist for nearly 40 years at several hospitals and medical institutions in Connecticut and New York, and had served as a medical examiner for Milford, CT between the years of 1991 and 2003. He received his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine and completed residencies at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and Westchester Medical Center.
He was curious, playful, and effortlessly cool. A self-taught musician, he was skilled at playing guitar, bass, piano, drums, harmonica, and more. He kept up with cutting-edge technology and always had the latest gadgets. An avid cyclist, he was active every day. He drank tea frequently and loved every kind of fruit, with a special regard for mangoes.

Ismail is survived by his former wife of many years and mother of his children, Robin Tarkhan, daughter Alexandra “Kiki” Tarkhan O’Keeffe, son Zachary Tarkhan and his girlfriend, Ece Yildirok, daughter Victoria Tarkhan and her husband, Steven Micali, and grandsons Julian and Milo Micali. He is also survived by two sisters, Maha Tarkhan and Daad Khosht, one brother, Khalid Tarkhan, and predeceased by one brother, Hamza Tarkhan.
A Memorial Service Gathering will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Cody-White Funeral Home at 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. ET.
