MILFORD, CT — Police seized 53 pounds of marijuana and a handgun with an obliterated serial number in recent busts of smoke shops.

Milford police, state police, and other area law enforcement conducted an investigation following complaints that some local establishments were selling "THC products to minors and possibly engaging in the sale or manufacture of other illegal products," police said in a statement.

Officers visited Blue Cloud Smoke Shop at 12 Daniel St. and Gulf Convenience at 111 Gulf St.

Officers seized "a significant quantity of illegal items" including unregulated THC products, 53 pounds of marijuana, and one handgun with an obliterated serial number.

The investigation is ongoing.
