Obituaries

Edna Madeline Young

1941-2024

Edna Madeline Young, 82, of West Haven, passed away on September 10th, 2024. Born on December 30th, 1941, in Bridgeport, CT. She was the daughter of the late Ethel Skibek.

A mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, but above all, a free spirit who lived life on her own terms. Edna Young was a person with such a large character that it was impossible not to be left with a strong impression. She was a woman of many stories who lived countless lifetimes during her time on this earth. From her time as a CNA to her days waiting tables as a mother of four, to her adventures living in Vieques, Puerto Rico by the bio-luminescent bay, walking among wild horses, Edna embraced life fully. She was an avid enthusiast of music, dancing, gardening, and interior decorating. Her energy and humor were infectious, and her presence was one that could never be forgotten. Of all the passions in her life, she was most passionate about her family. Her legacy will live on through her remaining family members. Although the curtain has closed, Edna will be a tough act to follow. May her love be dispersed through all those who have been touched by her life, short or long. May her energy reverberate through the years to come. May she rest in divine peace.

She is survived by her children: her beloved Cindy Young of Branford, CT; Gary Tarantino of Branford, CT; Kenneth Young, who currently resides in Ecatepec, Mexico; and Dawn Klein of Winter Springs, Florida. Her grandchildren: Ciara Young of Branford, CT, who she affectionately referred to as her rose; Michael Tarantino of East Haven, CT; Kayla Tarantino of Arizona; Ashley Klein of Orlando, Florida; and Sandra Klein of San Francisco, California. She also leaves behind one great-grandchild, Ryder Tarantino of East Haven, CT. She was also predeceased by her sister, Karen White, of Milford, CT. and her loving partner and best friend, Bruce Saltzman.
