Business Allies Support MUSC and Present Benefit for MPD K-9’s, Milford Animal Shelter & Food Bank

Milford, Connecticut. Milford J.K.A. Shotokan Karate (MJKAS) and its sister company, Sound Yoga, have forged an alliance to support the Milford United Soccer Club (MUSC). Allies Dr. Michael Orefice of Active Health, and Jason Leydon of CrossFit Milford will be participating exhibitors at the MUSC Opening Day event on Saturday, September 8th (rain date September 9th) held at the Milford Academy from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Gupta Eye Care Center of Milford will also be exhibiting.  Visitors can collect valuable information, partake in interesting demonstrations and a variety of activities, and take advantage of special offers throughout the day. MJKAS and Dr. Julia Carter of Pond Point Animal Hospital are also collaborating to present a fundraising event that will take place simultaneously dubbed ‘Kicks, Kids for K-9’s,’ with monies raised and pet food items collected to benefit the Milford Police Department’s K-9 Division, the Milford Animal Shelter, and its Food Bank. The MPD Officer and K-9 will be visiting periodically during the event and conducting demonstrations.  Other activities include a Moon Bounce House provided by the Party People of Milford, and a Soccer Shoot Out presented by the Milford Elks.

Those who donate to the Kids, Kids for K-9’s will get a chance to win a prize of One Free Month of J.K.A. Shotokan Karate lessons. The winners’ entire family will be awarded this free offer. Fundraiser monies will be raised in several ways: a donation of $1.00 equals 1 kata/forms; a donation of $5.00 equals 5 kata/forms, and a donation of $10.00 equals 10 kata/forms. The kata/forms will be done throughout the day at the event, and back at the MJKAS dojo. Tickets can be purchased on site for a chance to win items donated by local businesses.

Health Awareness and Fitness:

MJKAS - Sensei Shahrokh Hoghooghi, co-instructor Antonio Caldas, and others will be teaching basic Shotokan Karate Classes during the day. MJKAS will also have an exhibit and pass out Free Passes for 1 week of karate.

Crossfit of Milford - The owners and staff of Crossfit of Milford will be demonstrating various fitness activities geared towards children strength and conditioning.

Kids, Kicks for K9's Fundraiser for the MPD K9's and Milford Animal Shelter

MJKAS and Dr. Julia Carter of Pond Point Animal Hospital (mother of MJKAS student Graham) are co-sponsoring a fundraiser for the MPD K9's and Animal Shelter during the MUSC opening day. The public is asked to donate money and/or bring cat or dog pet food.  The proceeds will benefit the MPD K9 Division for safety equipment, the Milford Animal Shelter, and its food bank. Active Health - Dr. Mike Orefice will be presenting injury prevention exercises and guidance on "Do and Don'ts" of injury recovery for families. He will also be giving samples of Rita’s Italian Ice.

Pond Point Animal Hospital Exhibit

Dr. Julia Carter will have an exhibit of Pond Point Animal Hospital services. During the day, Dr. Carter will demonstrate some of her holistic treatments to treat pet injuries.
