The Milford Fine Arts Council again hosts its "Run for the Roses" Kentucky Derby Party and Fundraiser, Saturday, May 5 from 4-7PM. Post time for the race is 6PM. Tickets are $25 in advance (by April 27) or $30 at the door.
This annual extravaganza features original art on gallery walls and prizes awarded in a competition for the most fabulous hat. Lucas Wong's piano provides background for live and silent auctions. Since May 5 is also Mexico's Cinco de Mayo festival, Mexican food and beverages will be among the tasty refreshments, together with other "horse d'oeuvres" and tasty surprises provided by local businesses. On the auction block will be a day of sailing on a luxury yacht with crew and gourmet lunch; a week at a vacation house above Southwest Harbor, Maine; a beach house on Cape Cod; and baskets of unique treats.
Sponsors of the festival include: Joey C's Tex-Mex, Bridgehouse Restaurant, Reggiano's Italian Pizza & Pasta House, Rainbow Gardens, Total Wine & Spirits, and Beachwood Florists. Gift certificates have also been donated by Thimble Island Cruises, Plan B Burger Bar, and Cloud Nine Day Spa. Their support adds greatly to the extravaganza.
