Ex-Milford Police Officer Gets Probation In Embezzlement Case

A former police sergeant accused of embezzling $184,000 was sentenced after paying full restitution, according to a report.

MILFORD, CT — A former city police sergeant will serve two years of probation in an embezzlement case, according to Hearst Connecticut Media.

Peter Parks, 43, is accused of embezzling $184,000 from the Police Benevolent Association (PBA) while he served as its president.

A judge granted Parks' application to the Supervised Diversionary Program, which allows defendants with psychiatric disabilities the opportunity to have charges against them dismissed by completing treatment, according to Hearst Connecticut Media. He has also paid full restitution.

The PBA reported to the police department in April 2023 that Parks had stolen funds from the organization over several years.

The police department then began an investigation and Parks was immediately put on administrative leave. He later resigned from the department.

A forensic fraud examiner from the Division of Criminal Justice conducted an investigation and found Parks had misappropriated $184,010.52 in private funds from the PBA, police said.

He was arrested in November 2023 and charged with 1st-degree larceny.
