Extension Approved For Massive Milford Apartment Plans

A developer sought a permit extension on its plans to construct nearly 350 apartments in Milford.

MILFORD, CT — Grillo Services, LLC was given a five-year extension on its permit to construct 342 apartments in two buildings at 553 West Ave. in Milford, according to recent Inland Wetlands Agency meeting minutes.

The apartments would be constructed in two buildings with associated parking, access drives and parking.

The original permit was set to expire on Sept. 9, 2021 and now it's been extended to Sept. 9, 2026.

According to meeting minutes, Grillo needed a permit extension because of a lengthy permitting process with the state of Connecticut. The plans have not changed for the site.

The Planning and Zoning Board voted in 2017 to approve Grillo Services LLC proposal to construct a 342-unit apartment complex at 553 West Ave., according to the Milford Mirror. A total of 108 of the 342 units will be designated as affordable, according to state statutes. The overall parcel is 57.3 acres.
