UPDATE: FBI Investigating Use of Funds in Milford: Report

For months there has been talk of federal officials investigating in Milford regarding the use of FEMA funds.

The FBI Public Corruption Task Force is conducting an investigation on how federal grant money was spent in the city, the Connecticut Post reports. 

The Post citing a source close to the investigation said investigators are specifically examining how Federal Emergency Management Agency or FEMA funds were spent after Superstorm Sandy battered the shoreline.

Documents have been seized by federal officials, the Connecticut Post reports. Milford has received $1.56 million in federal funds associated with repairing homes and infrastructure damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

About 500 city houses were damaged during the storm.

The Post reports that a former city employee was interviewed by federal agents about four months ago. Current city employees have also been interviewed, the Post adds.

Sources have told Patch and other media outlets for months that federal officials were investigating in Milford, but the first confirmation of the investigation comes via the Connecticut Post’s John Burgeson and Ken Dixon.

Milford Mayor Benjamin G. Blake told the Post Monday he has not personally heard from anyone connected with the investigation and nothing has been requested from his office.
