Fisherman Rescued From Muddy Marsh In Milford: Fire Officials

Officials said the "complicated" rescue took nearly two hours to complete.

MILFORD, CT — Firefighters rescued a fisherman who was stuck in the mud in the marsh waters off Smith’s Point in Milford on Wednesday night, according to officials.

Officials said the “complicated” rescue took nearly two hours to complete.

“A fisherman had been fishing and misjudged the tidal change and became stuck in the mud,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. Engine 4, Quint 3, Squad 1, Engine 6, Medic 2 and Car 4 responded to the scene as well as a Polaris Ranger ATV. Department members donned water rescue suits and were able to get to the individual and remove him from the mud with mechanical advantage rope systems.

“The rescue took almost 2 hours to complete and there were no injuries to any firefighters, just a-lot of cleaning up to do.”
