Flash Flood Warning Extended; Heavy Rain Moving In Now

The National Weather Service says it has issued an extension of time for the Flash Flood Warning. BREAKING

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for South central New Haven County in southern Connecticut until 7:15 p.m.

* At 549 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two to three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...New Haven, Milford, Hamden, North Haven, Orange, Derby, Woodbridge, West Haven, East Haven and Woodmont.

Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches are possible in the warned area.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
