Flash Flooding, Heavy Rain, Strong Wind Gusts For Southern CT Thursday Night
A hazardous weather outlook and flood watch have been issued for southern Connecticut, as up to three inches of rain is possible.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of southern Connecticut, and a flood watch has also been issued for most of the region.
In a hazardous weather outlook for all of southern Connecticut, the weather service said:
"A strong cold front will bring locally heavy rainfall from mainly this afternoon through tonight. The main threat from this rainfall will be from minor urban and poor drainage flooding. Localized flash flooding is also possible, especially this evening. Isolated thunderstorms with the front could bring locally strong to potentially damaging winds with the greatest threat from the New York City metro/Hudson River corridor on west."

A flood watch has been issued for New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties, the weather service said:
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
- From 8 PM EDT this evening through Friday morning.
- Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
- Multiple rounds of heavy showers are expected to move across the region throughout tonight into early Friday morning.
- Storm total rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Rainfall rates at times will be near 1 inch of rain in one hour. This will lead to excessive runoff, increasing the potential for flooding especially in urban, low lying and poor drainage areas. Small rivers and streams may overflow their banks.
