Foran Girls Lacrosse Teams Raise Money To Bring Awareness To And Help Prevent Substance Use

MILFORD, CT — Milford Prevention Council held an awards ceremony this week at Joseph A. Foran High School. Coach Jack Connors and the Junior Varsity and Varsity girls lacrosse teams (the Lions) raised $650 for the Milford Prevention Council to combat substance abuse among Milford’s youth by holding a bake sale at one of their games last week.
The team awarded this donation to Milford Prevention Council at this special ceremony. This is the second year that the team has raised funds for this important issue. Last year, sisters Hope and Lia Burrows, who tragically lost their sister Jessica in 2011 due to a heroin overdose, led the initiative.
"On behalf of the Milford Prevention Council, we are so grateful and proud of these students - you are true MPC heroes," said Wendy Gibbons, who is the agency's program director.
