'Fully Involved' Car Fire Reported On I-95 In Milford, Fire Officials Say

Firefighters extinguished the blaze which was reported on the southbound side of the highway.

MILFORD, CT — A car was consumed by flames on I-95 on Monday, according to the Milford Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to I-95 southbound near exit 36 for a car fire with the engine compartment fully involved.

"Car fires are one of the more dangerous events firefighters respond to particularly on the highway," the fire department wrote. "Fire apparatus placement help protect firefighters and safely direct traffic."

Anyone involved in a motor vehicle accident or car fire on the highway should pull their car to the right shoulder if it's safe to do so and never walk around on the road, fire officials said.

"While passing the scene of a car fire, please slow down and keep your eyes on the road. Smoke may bank down across the road impairing drivers' vision," fire officials wrote.
