Fundraising Effort Launched In Milford For Reunited Syrian Family
A welcoming party for the Kassar family was held on Feb. 3 at the Milford Olive Tree restaurant.

MILFORD, CT — A GoFundMe page has been established to aid Milford resident Fadi Kassar, of Syria, and his family, who were reunited this month after Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) intervened on their behalf following President Donald Trump's executive order travel ban.
Started by brother-in-law Sammer Karout, the page has generated $2,000 toward a goal of $3,000, as of this morning, Feb. 13.
"These funds support the Kassar family," wrote Karout. "Fadi Kassar's wife and two daughters were barrred from a flight from Kiev to JFK last week due to President Trump's Executive Order, wasting $2,000 worth of airline tickets. Once the Kassar family was allowed to come to America Fadi Kassar had to borrow $2,000 to fly his wife and daughter to this country."
