George Ambriscoe Jr., of Milford, passed away on December 6, 2024.
George was a devoted member of the Milford community and a long-time public servant, leaving a lasting impact through his decades of service

George A. Ambriscoe Jr., born April 28, 1941, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on April 28, 1941, George was the son of the late George Ambriscoe Sr. and Anne (Guarneri) Ambriscoe.
George was a devoted member of the Milford community and a long-time public servant, leaving a lasting impact through his decades of service.
George proudly served in the United States Army before dedicating 38 years to the Milford Fire Department. He retired in 2002 as Senior Fire Inspector. His contributions to the fire service extended beyond his work at the Fire Department. Along with his late brother Richard, George co-founded Engine 260, which has played an integral role in organizing the Engine 260 Fire Muster held annually in Milford for the past 50 years. The event, featuring a parade of vintage fire trucks from all over the state, donated its proceeds to the Milford Recreation Department’s Camp Happiness Program, was one of his proudest achievements.
George was also an Associate Member of the Orange Volunteer Fire Department, the Paugassett Hook and Ladder Company #4 in Derby, the Webster Hose Company #3 in Ansonia, and a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators. His community involvement extended further as he was a member of SPAAMFAA, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, and the Milford Elks Lodge.
George is survived by his sister Rose Marie Ambriscoe of Milford, his brother Michael and his wife Evelyn (Allard) Ambriscoe of Chatham, Massachusetts, his nephew Keith Ambriscoe and his wife Samantha Miller of New Britain, CT, his niece Jacqueline Hagner and her husband Richard Hagner of Alexandria, VA, and several great nieces, nephews, and cousins. George also shared a special bond with his Godson, Vaughan and his wife, Sheri Dumas and their son, Vaughan Jr. of Orange, CT. In addition to his loving parents, George is predeceased by his brother Richard Ambriscoe, and his sister Barbara Ambriscoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Camp Happiness to honor George's devotion to their cause. Checks can be made payable to: Camp Happiness: Milford Rec. Dept. and mailed to "Camp Happiness c/o Marlene Sanchez, Parsons Complex, 70 West River St., Milford CT 06460"
Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cody White Funeral Home (107 Broad St., Milford CT 06460). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church (70 Gulf St, Milford CT 06460). PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CHURCH. Interment with Military Honor are to follow at King’s Highway Cemetery (271 Cherry Street, Milford CT 06460).
