George E. Anderson Sr., 88, of Brooklyn, was born on March 31, 1937 and passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 peacefully in his sleep at home. George lived in Brooklyn until he was 10 years old before making the move to Milford. He was the son of the late Mae and Gustav Anderson and the grandson of the late William and Josephine Farquharson of Brooklyn, New York and Milford, CT.

He is survived by his daughter Donna (Anderson) Holden, his Son George Anderson Jr., Son-In-Law Terry Holden Jr., and his two granddaughters Brianne and Alyssa Holden. He is also survived by his Sister-In-Law Carol Anderson, his niece Laura Anderson, and his nephew David Anderson. He was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Dooling) Anderson, his brother Craig Anderson, and his sister Carlyn Schulteiss. George graduated from Milford High School in 1955 and was enlisted in the US Naval Reserves where he served for 8 years on service destroyers. He worked at the A & P Grocery store in 1954 which led to him meeting his beloved wife of 62 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Dooling at a summer outing for the company on August 27, 1956. From that moment on, they were together until she passed in July 2021.

George had a strong sense of country and community. He became a coach of the Junior Major League Baseball team, was active in the Cubs Scouts and Boy Scouts in Milford, and was the Co-owner and operator of Ted’s Spa Luncheonette in Seymour with his brother Craig Anderson. He worked in the plastics industry, Polycast Optics, and was with BJ’s of Fairfield for 20+ years as a Quality Control Manager.

He loved to travel with his family on spontaneous adventures and would often find himself at Disney World as it was his family’s favorite place to go. He had an immense love for Elvis, Disney, his 1955 Hudson “Hollywood” Hornet, and all vintage cars. His heritage was a source of pride for him and he would often tell fun facts to his family about his Scottish heritage and being a member of the Farquharson Clan. He was a loyal Dodgers fan since he attended games at Ebbets Field when they were the Brooklyn Dodgers. George was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather who was often called a “gentle giant” and embodied the true meaning of being selfless. He will be missed immeasurably by those he loved as he was a pillar of strength, compassion, and deep love to all those around him.

We will love you Always and Forever.
