Gerald T. Benson, age 83, of Milford, has passed away on March 27, 2026

He found quiet happiness tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, digging in the dirt, and spreading layers of rich mulch.

Gerald T. Benson, 83, of Milford, beloved spouse of Judith Benson for 54 years, passed away on March 27, 2026. Born on May 17, 1942, he was the son of the late Bernhardt and Helen Benson.

Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, a commitment that stayed with him throughout his life. After his service, he worked for many years as a carpenter and later as an operating room associate at Yale, where he was respected for his reliability and strong work ethic.

He formed lifelong friendships with a group affectionately known as the “Goombas”: Bobby, Ronny, Pat, Nicky, and the late Paul. Those friendships stood the test of time, and their semiannual gatherings were a constant source of laughter, loyalty, and connection. He studied political science at UNH and maintained a steady interest in current events and had a love for history.
