Girl Scout Volunteers Receive National Honor

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is proud to announce that Sue Stevens and Donna
Stupak of the Ansantawae (Milford) Service Unit were awarded the prestigious Girl Scout HonorPin at the organization’s Annual Meeting on May 23.

A national recognition for adult Girl Scouts, the Honor Pin recognizes an adult volunteer who actively recognizes, understands, and practices the values of inclusive behavior and was has delivered outstanding service to two or more geographic areas or service units within Connecticut.

Sue Stevens has been the camp director at Camp Katoya in Milford for the last 13 years. She serves about 450 girls at the day camp each year. In addition, she devotes many hours annually to Camp Buddies & Pals, a program that reaches out to girls in underserved areas and schools, and brings them to Katoya for a week. The girls enjoy camp and leave with a backpack of new school supplies.

Donna Stupak has been a Troop Leader for about 10 years in two troops, helping her Girl Scouts become involved in the “Kids on the Block” educational puppet program.

She oversees andmanages 300 girls, 150 adults, and 25 troops annually. She represents the Girl Scouts on the Milford Earth Day Committee and coordinates the participation of both the Ansantawae and Woodmont Service Units in the event.
