Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Fairfield/New Haven County

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Fairfield and New Haven counties on Monday. Here's what you need to know

FAIRFIELD/NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for both Fairfield and New Haven counties on Monday.

In a Monday morning update, the weather service wrote, "Showers and thunderstorms with an approaching cold front could produce locally excessive rainfall capable of causing isolated flash flooding tonight."

The area will see periods of rain and storms on Monday and Tuesday, and then the sun takes over for the remainder of the week. Beginning on Wednesday, it's a stretch of beautiful late summer weather through next Sunday.

Today: Showers likely before 8am, then isolated showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 78. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tonight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11pm. Low around 70. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind 7 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers between 8pm and 11pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 62. West wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 81. West wind 5 to 11 mph.
