SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for southern Connecticut warning of possible severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening.

In a statement, the weather service said, "A cold front will bring isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into evening. Some storms could be strong to severe, and while large hail cannot be ruled out, damaging wind gusts will be the more likely threat."

It will be another hot and humid day for the area as temperatures will push 90 degrees, especially away from the water. There will also be a chance for some storms on Tuesday too, according to the weather service.

"Heat index values will be in the lower to middle 90s, with isolated readings in the middle to upper 90s," the weather service said. "A weak disturbance will move through, bringing a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Conditions dry out overnight. It will remain warm and humid, with lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

"A cold front will move through on Tuesday. This will bring a better chance for showers and thunderstorms from late morning into the early evening hours ... Some storms may be strong to possibly severe. The main threat would be damaging winds. High pressure builds in for Tuesday night, ushering in a cooler, drier air mass into the middle of the week."
