MILFORD, CT — The 12th year of "Kick Off to Summer" is scheduled for later this month in Milford with fireworks, food trucks, music, and more.

The event will be June 22 from 4 to 10:30 p.m. Fireworks are set for 9:15 p.m. Rain date is June 23.

Parking for the event will be "very restricted," organizer Daniel Worroll said. The event will be at Lisman Landing, but don't expect to park in the vicinity.

Instead, Worroll strongly recommends using shuttle buses. He said the buses will be leaving frequently from the Milford Senior Center, Harborside Middle School, and Wasson Field.

The last bus will be returning to those parking areas around 10:45.

Worroll said about 400 or 500 people show up for the event with several thousand more taking in the fireworks from around downtown Milford. He said he expects the boat slip will be full for the evening.

"It's a great event," Worroll said. "Everyone enjoys it."

In addition to fireworks, there will be music from bands like Sapphire and Rum Runners as well as food trucks.

One challenge is that fireworks have increased in price by 30 percent this year, Worroll said

The event is run by the City of Milford and funded by donors. Worroll said some of this year's biggest donors include Milford Bank, Devon Rotary, Metro Star, Flipside restaurant, and Shop Rite.

The event will utilize the city's event stage, which was purchased last year.
