Here's Where The Historic Milford Diner Will Be Moving To

The good news is that the diner will be restored and will be serving up food once again.

MILFORD, CT — A Milford institution may be on the move soon. It appears the old Milford Diner, which has been in the SBC parking lot on New Haven Avenue for the past several years, will be moving to Indiana and restored by Danny Miller, the Milford Mirror reports.

The 1946 diner will be moved to a place outside of Kokomo, Indiana and Miller, who loves history, will run the diner just as it had been run in Milford for several decades. Miller told the Milford Mirror that he's already purchased signs and a jukebox dating back to the 1940s.

You can follow the restoration efforts here: facebook.com/savethemilforddiner. Miller, according to a GoFundMe page has set a fundraising goal of $25,000 to restore the diner.

According to the GoFundMe page,"My name is Danny Miller I am from Kokomo Indiana. I take great pride into saving and restoring our history. The Milford Diner is located in Milford, Connecticut and must be removed from its current site. In 1947 the Paterson Vehicle Company of Paterson, New Jersey built the Silk City Diner. The Memaj Family owned and operated the diner for nearly 40 years and has since retired and the diner has sat vacant for almost 5 years now. I hoped to relocate the structure and restore the diner as it was when it opened in the 1947. Although the diner retains most of its original interior and original exterior stainless steel remains intact it is in desperate need of restoration. I am raising the money to not only save The Milford Diner but move it to Indiana to be restored and reopened. The money will go towards the moving and restoring of the diner. The dimensions of this Silk City Diner are 15' wide X 40' long. The diner can seat approximately 46 people with six 4 seat booths and 20 stools at the counter.
