Howard Johnson Demolition To Resume Soon In Milford

Demolition was delayed due to cell antennas needing a new home, but work on the site will resume soon.

MILFORD, CT — Demolition at the former Howard Johnson property is scheduled to resume once cell tower antennas are removed from the building. The property is set to become a Genesis dealership owned by the Key Cars Auto Group.

Antennas are on track to be removed Nov. 21 and site work, including demolition, will resume shortly after, said Chuck Dortenzio, director of operations for the Key Cars Auto Group.

"I have recently spoken to all the carriers and to the team responsible for the [decommission] and all is on track," he told Patch.

Key Cars aims to complete construction around November 2023. The group also owns Key Hyundai of Milofrd, Key Chevrolet of Middletown and Key Hyundai of Manchester. Genesis is Hyundai's luxury vehicle line.

The land parcel contains the former Howard Johnson and Friendly's properties. The site will be the home of a 24,600 square foot showroom and car repair area.
