Ice Cream Shop Charts Opening At Home Of Beloved Former Milford Business

A new shop is "coming soon" to a well-known address in Milford.

MILFORD, CT — Toasty Scoops is "coming soon" to the former home of Sundae House in Milford.

The ice cream shop's Facebook page says it will be opening at 499 New Haven Ave.

Toasty Scoop's will be serving Bassetts Ice Cream, which is a Philadelphia company and America's oldest ice cream brand, according to its website. The family-owned and -operated business has been making ice cream since 1861.

The Toasty Scoops address is the former home of Sundae House, a Milford staple for six decades. The property was back on the market last month, listed for $799,000. A listing on LoopNet states that the retail property is no longer for sale.

Renovations on the building appear to now be underway.

A Toasty Scoops representative confirmed that this is the first location of the shop.

Sundae House closed in 2023 after 60 years of serving both traditional and soft-serve flavors of ice cream.

Though the business had its ups and downs over the years, the owners previously said COVID wasn't one of them and called it "a great year for us."

Cookie39 set up shop in a trailer at the site last summer. However, Cookie39's location in New Haven closed in December. The Milford location is listed as "temporarily closed" on Google.
