ID Released in Fatal I-95 Accident in Milford: UPDATE

BREAKING: State Police said the victim lost control of their vehicle while driving on the highway.

MILFORD, CT — A 20-year-old Bridgeport man was revealed to be the person who died in a Saturday morning single-vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Milford, State Police said.

Ricardo J. Phagoo, 20, of Wood Avenue in Bridgeport, was traveling on I-95 southbound just before Exit 36 off-ramp in Milford in the right lane around 5:30 a.m.. For some reason he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the gore area for the Exit 36 off-ramp, State Police said.

His vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, struck a state Department of Transportation light pole in the gore area and then hit a tree with its passenger side. Phagoo was taken to Bridgeport Hospital via the Milford Fire Department and he would later die as a result of the injuries he sustained.

State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
