Inaugural Festival Celebrates Milford's Culinary Heritage
The event will feature the "iconic staple" along with live music, an artisan market, children's activities, and more.
MILFORD, CT — The inaugural Lobster Roll Festival will be held Sept. 20 at Walnut Beach. The event comes via the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce and its sponsor, Xfinity.
The event will be "celebrating the city’s unique culinary legacy as the home of the original hot buttered lobster roll," according to a chamber statement.
"Milford’s role in lobster roll history dates back nearly a century to Perry’s Restaurant in the 1920s, where Harry Perry created the first-ever lobster roll for a hungry traveling salesman," according to the chamber. "Today, the sandwich is an iconic staple, beloved far beyond Connecticut's borders."
