Intoxicated Milford Man Struck 5 Parked Cars While Driving: Police

Police say the man tried to leave the scene of the accident.

MILFORD, CT — A 69-year-old Milford man is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol when he struck five parked cars and attempted to leave the scene, police said.

Police said on Jan. 18 officers responded to a motor vehicle accident on Cleveland Avenue at 7:45 p.m. in which the offending vehicle had struck five parked vehicles and was trying to leave the area.

Investigation led to the arrest of John Lightcap, 69, of Cleveland Avenue, who is accused of driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, police said. Lightcap provided a breath sample which showed him to have an elevated blood alcohol content, police said.

He is charged with DUI, evading responsibility, unsafe movement of a stopped vehicle, and several motor vehicle violations. He was held initially in lieu of a $500 bond.
