James H. Caporaso, 58, of Lordship, was mercifully released from his struggle with glioblastoma, on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at home with his wife, Laureen (Kerilla), by his side. Born on November 4, 1966, Jim was the son of the late James Steinmetz and his mother, Fran Frisbie Caporaso of Florida, and later adopted by John Caporaso, Jr. Jim graduated from Stratford High School and served in the U.S. Navy. Jim was a proud union carpenter and shop steward with Connecticut Carpenters Local 210/326 and was selected to attend the International Training Center in Las Vegas, NV. Jim enjoyed music, fishing, boating, and golfing, (achieving a hole-in-one at Short Beach Golf Course) and spending time with his two stepdaughters, Sara Kerilla-Gomez (David) and Stephanie Kerilla Ferreira (Mark). Jim’s greatest joy came from being “GJ” (Grampa Jim) to his five grandchildren; Noah Kerilla Ferreira, Miles Kerilla Ferreira, Sonny Kerilla-Gomez, and twins Jade and Chevelle Kerilla-Gomez who brought out the best in him and whom he loved unconditionally. Their love, laughter, hugs and kisses helped him through his terrible illness. Jim is also survived by his beloved brother, Christopher Caporaso (Whitney). Family and friends may call on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the DOYLE FUNERAL HOME, 291 BRIDGEPORT AVENUE, MILFORD. Interment will be private.
