James Lappin White, 83, of Milford, passed away on December 10, 2024.

James was deeply committed to his community, particularly through his role as a coach.

James Lappin White, 83, of Milford, beloved husband of 61 years to Irene White, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024. Born on August 21, 1941 in Dalmuir Scotland, he was the son of the late James and Mary White.

James emigrated to the United States with his wife, Irene, one day after their wedding in June of 1963. Together, they settled in Milford, where they built a life full of love, community, and service.

James retired in 2001 after a dedicated 30-year career with Ironworkers Local 424. His work ethic and dedication were hallmarks of his professional life, but his legacy extends far beyond his career. James was deeply committed to his community, particularly through his role as a coach. He devoted 17 years to coaching boys' soccer in Milford and was one of the founding members of the program that would eventually become known as the Milford United Soccer Club. He was passionate about introducing young boys to the game of soccer, a sport still new to the United States in the early 1970s, and he instilled a love for the game that shaped generations of players.
