
Janice May Rainey, 96, of Milford, beloved wife of the late David Rainey, passed away on May 24, 2024. Born on April 9, 1928 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Schlotterbeck.
Janice dedicated many years of her professional life to Milford Savings Bank as the Assistant Treasurer, where her work ethic and warm demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. Her love for the community extended beyond her professional life, as she was a devoted member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford, where she served faithfully as an usher for many years.
A woman of many passions, Janice found joy in gardening, tending to her flowers with a nurturing hand and a keen eye for beauty. She was also a generous soul, contributing to the community as an avid blood donor. Her love for life was evident in the way she embraced the simple pleasures, from square dancing with her beloved David to enjoying weekends with family in Bridgewater, CT.
Janice was a social butterfly, known for her independence and her vibrant social life. Every Friday, she looked forward to gathering with her dear friend Dottie for drinks, a testament to her enduring friendships and zest for life.
Janice is survived by her beloved son David Rainey and his wife Shora. Granddaughter Jessica Rainey and her husband Anant Amirapu, grandson Kyle Rainey, and great grandson Arlo Amirapu. She is predeceased by her sister Louise Rencher.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday May 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Church of Christ, 34 W. Main St, Milford CT 06460 (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH).
