Joan E. Martinez, 92, of Milford, passed away on May 5, 2025
Joan was the heart of her family, a true matriarch whose unwavering care and generosity touched everyone around her.

Joan E. Martinez, 92, of Milford, passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2025. Joan was born on April 11, 1933, in Taylor, PA to the late John D. Williams Sr. and Edna Garrett Williams.
Joan was the beloved wife of David Martinez, Jr. Their story began when David, giving his sister a ride to work, noticed Joan walking down the side of the road. David’s sister recognized her and said she worked with her. Captivated by her presence, he stopped to offer her a ride and the daily carpooling to work began. From the first ride together, their love quickly blossomed. They married shortly thereafter and shared 52 wonderful years of a joyful, devoted marriage.
Joan was the heart of her family, a true matriarch whose unwavering care and generosity touched everyone around her. She took immense pride in her children and their accomplishments. She was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball fan and was well known for her witty sense of humor that would often leave those around her laughing.

Joan’s thoughtfulness extended far beyond immediate family—She treated everyone with kindness and care, including the home health aides who became like family. A heartful thank you is extended by the family to her aides Yvonne and Marcia for their compassionate care of Joan during her final days and to Dawn for the care she gave to Joan during her earlier times of need.
Joan is survived by her beloved daughter Joanne White, son David Martinez (wife Pamela), grandson Jarred Yates, and granddaughter Victoria White. In addition to her husband David, she is predeceased by her daughter June Yates and brother John D. Williams Jr.
